Indore is a city that showcases the grandeur of the royal Holkar family. The Rajwada is one such place that is a perfect example of the same. Built two centuries back by the Holkars, this seven storeyed palace is an architectural beauty. The palace perfectly blends in Maratha, European and Mughal styles, and is seven floors of grandeur. While the lower floors have been made in stone, the upper floors have been built in wood, which has made it prone to fire thrice in the past. The entrance to the palace is a grand door, which leads to a huge sunlit courtyard surrounded by elegant galleries and hall. Facing the palace is a beautifully landscaped garden with the statue of the great Holkar queen Ahilyabai. Visit this palace to experience the royalty seeping through the walls.
