  • Small but nice..good place if looking for cheaper option...whole house is transformed into hostel..no card services, always requires cash to pay

  • No matter where in Scotland I've been staying in the past, the MacBackpackers have always been the best among all hostels. Though this one is calle "Student Hotel", it's actually a hostel, and it's as cozy and uncomplicated as the others of that chain. Friendly, helpful staff through and though, clean rooms, clean kitchen area, great service with free hot drinks, luggage storage, and a cozy common room with a real fire.

  • Decent hostel for the price, don't expect any luxuries. Kitchen is well equipped. Showers could be more hygienic.

  • As hostels go, it's not the worse out there. There is a curfew, which sucks. There is usually more staff than guests, but they don't do much and just lay around all day.

  • Staff is very friendly and welcoming However, the amenities have become old and needs maintainace. It's good for a night.
