Hoong Tho Restaurant, Ipoh Reviews
（註：本餐66RM,生蝦生麵30RM) / The waiting time of the dishes is too long... We waited for 45 minutes but not even a single dish served. The service attitude is just “okay”, but if you order too little, the clerk will ask you to order more... If you just want to taste a little and don’t want to waste your precious traveling time, I won’t recommend this store. As for the food, overall it isn’t bad (fried rice is good). We ordered three plates of medium size, and the price of each at is around 18RM. I recommend four to five people can share a dish. If the food itself I can give a 3-4 stars rate, but the waiting time is just INSANE, if you indeed have TIME and PATIENCE to wait for the dishes, you can give this store a visit though. (Btw, these three plates cost 66RM, the noodles with shrimp costs 30RM)
House specialty HoongTho noodles soup is very salty. Fried guifa noodles is just a noodles version of S'pore meehoon. Overall, lots of condiments but salty and MSG taste. Prepared to wait 30min and expect to be scolded if you ask for your food. They do not serve according to who arrives first, but who orders what. Two other tables arrived later than us were almost half finished and our food not arrive.
The food is nice but not impressive. I would definitely recommend the prawn noodles and wanton. The prawn noodles has a mid-range intensity giving the noodles and the prawns a silky texture with a touch of goodness. The wanton has the perfect crunchiness and flavor. The price is also quite reasonable.
Nice food at very affordable price. Must try the famous noodle and fresh water prawn noodle. Side dishes includes famous fried wanton and pork couldron sausage/popiah.
The restaurant has a smaller menu, mainly serve noodles and a variety of snacks/appetizers. I liked their river prawn noodle, Cantonese style mihun, and spring roll. The glass noodle and claypot chicken rice was average.
