A lovely remake of the original, the Moscow gates were built in the year 1813 to honour the 10 years of the reign of Alexander I. The gates were located at the exit of Irkutsk, towards Moscow highway. Hence the name. In 1911 however, it was decided to demolish the gates. Years later, as recent as 2011, restoration of this symbolic gate began. By the 350th anniversary of the city, the gate was ready to be unveiled. Don't forget to carry your camera to capture the intricate patterns on the gate.
