Located in the district of Fatih, the Beyazit square is known for its famous Bayezid II mosque. Situated in the European part of Istanbul, this square is also called as the Freedom Square and is built on the site of the Forum of Theodosius built by Constantine the Great. Its design was conceptualized and shaped by Turgut Cansever. It is in the same square that some of the famous political protests, including the one in 1969 better known as Bloody Sunday happened.
