Past still remains embedded well in Istanbul. Valens Aqueduct is one of the reminiscent of the Roman past. It was infact the major water channelizing system which had once served the Roman capital of Constantinople, better known as Istanbul today. Built in the late 4th century AD, this aqueduct was preserved first by Byzantines and later by the Ottomans. Although in ruins today and preserved majorly as a wall, it is one of the important landmarks of the city and thus deserves a visit.
