This waterfall is often referred to as the Niagra Falls of India because of the speed with which the water falls down. It mesmerises you with its beauty and charm. Located about 30 km from the city of Jabalpur, the water fall is formed by the River Narmada, which is considered as one of the five holy rivers in India. A dip in this river is said to wash away all your sins. Lots of tourists visit here and enjoy the beauty of the water fall and some take a bath too in the holy water.
As you get nearer to the waterfall, you will start hearing the thunderous sound of the falling water, which gets louder gradually. The very sight of the waterfall makes you spell bound and you will forget everything else but the mesmerising beauty of the fall. It falls from a height of 98 ft and as it falls down, it produces small water droplets, which look like smoke arising from the river bed. So the water fall got the name Dhuandhar Falls. ‘Dhuan’ means smoke and Dhuandhar means Smoke Cascade.

Beautiful gushing waterfall flowing all the while. When the waterfalls it seems smoke coming out of the falls hence the name Dhuandhar Waterfalls. Beautiful location and multiple points to view. Nearby there is White Marble rocks lining up Narmada river. These rocks are mesmerizing as they glow very differently throughout the day and especially in the moon light. Full moon lake tours are famous in this region.
Nature at its beautiful best. Unbelievable settings, though may not be equal to the glory of Niagara falls but prbably the best in India. Some bit of walk to reach and the usual problems like cattle, dogs and lots of muck but once you reach you forget everything and get absorbed in the nature's beauty and fury
No words would be adequate to describe the experience of seeing the dhuandhar fall....waters are jumping down with a roar quite similar to a lion.....and a rainbow is always there visible till there is the sun on the sky....the ambience is tried to be maintained by the govt to the fullest attempt..... And it must be said that river awareness is raised among public a little compared to near past....but still there are miles to go...because environment awareness among people is still a hard task to do...
What are relaxing and extraordinary scene. I thoroughly enjoyed it along with my girlfriend. The place is very romantic and the place give me such a great idea to share a precious time with my love.
Cool place to visit with your friends & family. As you enter you will see the traditional roadside shops where shopkeepers are selling stuff like hats, statues made from marble, you can also get your name on those marbles in different shapes, then you walk towards the waterfall. Water flows here at very fast speed. The overall atmosphere is just too amazing. Ideally you can spend 2-3 hours here, a good spot for picnic in Jabalpur.
