The rainforests, the graded hills and verdant valley, the natural springs, are all rolled into a folklore filled with dance and music and presented in a story at the Teatro Jaco. The purpose of this theatre is to reflect traditional Tico culture and every scene is connected to a common thread relevant to the traditions and myths of Costa Rica.

Costa Rica is pure life. A land rich in natural resources, from its beaches and surf, to its jungles teeming with species of birds and butterflies to its peaceful people and deep rooted culture and traditions. At the Tetro Jaco, founder Darren Lee Cole wanted to bring out the inner beauty of Costa Rica. Here even the cracks spring into life and spreads beauty in green after the rains.

Caribbean based instruments such as the murumba, dundun, and the djembe drums and castinets are all used to tell portray classic tales in a modern way. The music and dance are all set in a distinct mood to show the endless struggle between man and woman seeking happiness against darker impulses. Depiction of sea and nature is a part of the local culture.

However international artists and theatre groups also perform here and this gives them a unique opportunity to enrich cultural arts for both tourists and Costa Rican audiences. They have Christmas shows every year and for that a different set of instruments are used such as the cello and violin. The great acoustics, friendly and helpful staff make this theatre a true gem. Travelling acts jam and perform on stage as well, and children are encouraged to perform and entertain.
