About Hawa Mahal, Jaipur

The Facade of the Hawa Mahal Jaipur is indubitably one of the most gorgeous and impressive things you will see in the world. The five storeys and the front facade have amazing and extensive networked marble work done upon them. The 953 windows called jharokhas are an astonishing sight. They were designed in the way so as to aid privacy.

Hawa Mahal Jaipur Architecture: The design of the jharokhas allows one to be able to observe the exterior without being seen. The lattice structures also facilitated the inwards flow and retaining of the fresh and cool air within the building as a result of the lattice network. The exterior and the walls of the palace are built of mostly red and pink sandstones. This is a Mughal architecture designed by Sawai Pratap Singh, Lal Chand Ustad.

The Hawa Mahal is an amazing amalgamation of cultures. The Mughal and the Rajput architecture as well as customs have been married beautifully here. The interior of the palace is built of varieties of coloured stones, gems, and chiefly marble. The inner courtyards are adorned with decorated fountains. Hawa Mahal is one attraction that stands synonymous with Jaipur and is thus a must visit.

Hawa Mahal, Jaipur Reviews - Write a Review

  • Another landmark of Jaipur. Well managed. Clean. Promises to keep you well aerated but carry your water n kerchief. Simple yet beautiful. Went inside for first time. Beautiful inside as well. The outer facade is iconic n looks stunning in the night after illumination

  • A must watch place for lovers of history and those who ate interested in ancient architecture. The craftsmanship and planning are super. Make sure to have an authorized guide to know in detail. Difficult for older people to visit all areas. Only a narrow passage to reach the fifth floor.one person can hardly walk. Ramps with railings are good for people to walk along the steep ramp

  • Very historical Palace in Jaipur, amongst all the other Palace. A palace which has 365 windows. A huge palace. The queen's could not come out in the open to greet the king as he left the palace, the windows would then facilitate her to take a proper view. A must visit place in the pink city. One of the awesome heritage in India that I visited. This is the place where concept of air pressure difference is utilized and a number of small and big windows are made so that air blow with high velocity inside the palace. So it is called Hawa Mahal. The view from outside the Mahal is awesome.

  • Hindu and Islamic architecture, and the exterior, with its small latticed windows (called jharokhas), resembles the crown of Lord Krishna. The windows also serve as an air-conditioner of sorts, blowing cool air throughout the palace, making it the perfect retreat during summers. Built from pink sandstone, the Hawa Mahal is Jaipur’s iconic landmark and visitors can view its complete magnificence from outside, from across the road. However, it is also possible to climb right up to the top for a wonderful view from the windows. Today, the Mahal is maintained by the Archaeological Department of the Government of Rajasthan and also houses an archaeological museum in the courtyard.
