Hawa Mahal - Review

The Facade of the Hawa Mahal Jaipur is indubitably one of the most gorgeous and impressive things you will see in the world. The five storeys and the front facade have amazing and extensive networked marble work done upon them. The 953 windows called jharokhas are an astonishing sight. They were designed in the way so as to aid privacy.

Hawa Mahal Jaipur Architecture: The design of the jharokhas allows one to be able to observe the exterior without being seen. The lattice structures also facilitated the inwards flow and retaining of the fresh and cool air within the building as a result of the lattice network. The exterior and the walls of the palace are built of mostly red and pink sandstones. This is a Mughal architecture designed by Sawai Pratap Singh, Lal Chand Ustad.

The Hawa Mahal is an amazing amalgamation of cultures. The Mughal and the Rajput architecture as well as customs have been married beautifully here. The interior of the palace is built of varieties of coloured stones, gems, and chiefly marble. The inner courtyards are adorned with decorated fountains. Hawa Mahal is one attraction that stands synonymous with Jaipur and is thus a must visit.

Hawa Mahal, Jaipur Reviews

  • Hawa Mahal is a palace in Jaipur, India. It is constructed of red and pink sandstone. The palace sits on the edge of the City Palace, Jaipur, and extends to the zenana, or women's chambers. In 2006, renovation works on the Mahal were undertaken, after a gap of 50 years, to give a face lift to the monument at an estimated cost of Rs 4568 million. The corporate sector lent a hand to preserve the historical monuments of Jaipur and the Unit Trust of India has adopted Hawa Mahal to maintain it.The palace is an extended part of a huge complex. The stone-carved screens, small casements and arched roofs are some of the features of this popular tourist spot. The monument also has delicately modelled hanging cornices. Beautiful place to visit

  • Very beautiful structure built just side by to the main local market as it reads Hawa Mahal you will barely feel hot inside. The built quality is worth a praise but as usual you will find it very crowded being adjacent to main road. Will going you will be approached by many guides do take a certified one. Don't hesitate to ask his id or any kind of certification because only a local guide can show you around properly and explain you the reason for the questions that will be raised there and i am sure one will definitely have questions.

  • Nice historical place Beautiful architecture and building exterior but lacks the same inside. The building stands on a main street and the entrance is on the side not directly in front, might need to ask a local where it is as there's no signs. The building was hosting an arts exhibition when I attended which for me was more interesting than the building. Like all architectural monuments in India, you need a guide to really appreciate what you're looking at, the Hawa Mahal literally feels like just an open set of rooms otherwise with no stand out features apart from the exterior. The view from the highest point is of course great, especially with its central location, you can see the hustle of the streets below This older hotel has elegant decor but updated bathrooms. The painted ceilings are a very nice touch. The shower had fantastic pressure and the beds were nice and soft. The pool area is shaded and nice in the heat of the afternoon. We are breakfast and dinner in the dining room both days and enjoyed our meals. Lots of variety on the menu.

  • Beautiful historical palace in Jaipur. Lovely architecture, nice views of the city... good neighborhood for gift shopping.. Take a quick chaay break in one of the rooftop cafes across the street for an excellent view of the Hawa Mahal facade. Take note, there are ongoing efforts to maintain the structure.. There might be some work going on when you visit.
