About Hawa Mahal, Jaipur

The Facade of the Hawa Mahal Jaipur is indubitably one of the most gorgeous and impressive things you will see in the world. The five storeys and the front facade have amazing and extensive networked marble work done upon them. The 953 windows called jharokhas are an astonishing sight. They were designed in the way so as to aid privacy.

Hawa Mahal Jaipur Architecture: The design of the jharokhas allows one to be able to observe the exterior without being seen. The lattice structures also facilitated the inwards flow and retaining of the fresh and cool air within the building as a result of the lattice network. The exterior and the walls of the palace are built of mostly red and pink sandstones. This is a Mughal architecture designed by Sawai Pratap Singh, Lal Chand Ustad.

The Hawa Mahal is an amazing amalgamation of cultures. The Mughal and the Rajput architecture as well as customs have been married beautifully here. The interior of the palace is built of varieties of coloured stones, gems, and chiefly marble. The inner courtyards are adorned with decorated fountains. Hawa Mahal is one attraction that stands synonymous with Jaipur and is thus a must visit.

  • Took an audio guide and covered the whole building. Audio guide had interesting stories and it was economical as well. The gradual increase of air flow could be felt at each level as we go up. Particularly liked the colourful mosaic tiles placed at the door ways and windows.

  • Be prepared for lots of traffic that you have to face. There is no parking arrangements and you need to find parking in the market only. The view from outside is good. There is one CCD(Cafe Coffee Day) inside and you can have your snacks inside. If you are in Jaipur for sight seeing you will have to see it but there is nothing very special about this place .

  • Beautiful architecture and engineering. A must see if you are in Jaipur. Students get high concession in entrance charges if they provide valid ID. Colours, design and science behind the building and it's architecture is wonderful considering its time. Historical monument.

  • Centrally located and very old monument. You need to each before 4.30 to get entry. Overall you will like it. the place shows the contemporary architecture of those days about how to keep a place cool in hot whether. Lots to learn.

  • It is wonderful architectural work of Rajputana. It is famous for its windowed structure which gives ventilation in whole palace plus its unique design famous for giving access to royal ladies to see the festivities of royal family without being noticed. Well maintained by authorities. Neat and clean. Located on main road of city, it gives a beautiful view of market from all the five floors.
