The famous CheelkaTeela hill of the Aravallis is home to this magnificent fort. It was built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II for the purpose of providing security to the Amber Fort and its adjoining communities from invasions of enemies. To a large extent, the floor plan of the Jaigargh fort resembles the Amer Fort.

The main attraction of the fort is the historical cannon located in its premises named the Jaivana. The Jaivana was the largest cannon of the world which ran on wheels, and was once vital in the political conquests of the royals of Rajasthan. Four temples known as the Laxmi Vilas, Lalit Mandir, Vilas Mandir, and Aram Mandir are also a part of the premises. They also include luxurious stretches of gardens belonging to the royal members of the city. The Fort also houses a chamber of armoury called Shubhat Niwas.

There is also a museum which exhibits the royal art collection along with stamps, cards and other artifacts belonging to the royals. The traditional armour and artillery are also displayed in a separate section.

  • Absolutely beautiful. The cannon is amazing. Spending leisure time walking in the Fort is great. Jaipur's view from the top is stunning. Great place to just stand and introspect.

  • Huge architecture on top of the hill. It will take 2-3 hours to visit each and every part of the fort. Good parking facility. And a good restaurant inside it's premises.

  • One great gun / cannon - called "Jaivana" is worth seeing. There are two main galleries beside the entrance. Other displays over the time has lost their glamour but depicts the royal lifestyle of the past. A beautiful garden and high walkway with two-three watch points are excellent places and one should be patient to cross the dull intermediate spaces, galleries and corridors to reach this place. Overall a good place to visit with two main stopovers.

  • Such a beautiful fort.. One of the best forts of Rajasthan.. It has too many open areas, grounds, and the vintage and antique collection in the museum are too awesome.. Overall a nice place to hangout with friends as well as with family too. But please keep it clean and dont write n spit on the walls or anything cz its our duty to preserve our heritage..!!

  • It's a very nice fort ...Huge n big ...But plz don't come along with anyone who is 50+ in age..It will difficult for them to climb up there...As there's no way commute except the elephants .... Obviously it's not an option for old-age people. And it's really hot there ..
