The famous CheelkaTeela hill of the Aravallis is home to this magnificent fort. It was built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II for the purpose of providing security to the Amber Fort and its adjoining communities from invasions of enemies. To a large extent, the floor plan of the Jaigargh fort resembles the Amer Fort.

The main attraction of the fort is the historical cannon located in its premises named the Jaivana. The Jaivana was the largest cannon of the world which ran on wheels, and was once vital in the political conquests of the royals of Rajasthan. Four temples known as the Laxmi Vilas, Lalit Mandir, Vilas Mandir, and Aram Mandir are also a part of the premises. They also include luxurious stretches of gardens belonging to the royal members of the city. The Fort also houses a chamber of armoury called Shubhat Niwas.

There is also a museum which exhibits the royal art collection along with stamps, cards and other artifacts belonging to the royals. The traditional armour and artillery are also displayed in a separate section.

  • Jaigarh fort one of the best fort, drive till fort is fantastic, amazing feeling when you did first time in your life on the hill, small hill but thrills he he, but it requires time to see each area of the fort. I suggest don't go when you have ample time if you want to see historical places properly.

  • If you are an Indian heritage lover than you can spend your entire day here without getting bored. I just loved this place and I just loved clicking pictures too. If you're planning a trip to Jaipur then you must cover this place along with Amer fort and few other places. I loved picking out few small pointers from there and that will always be memorable.

  • 1. Must visit 2. Take a guide who is otherwise employee there as a guard. 3. Time required- 2-3 Hrs 4. Can drive car inside.. a better option if you are going with a small baby. Otherwise will have to walk around 2.5 Kms.

  • If you want to see a marvelous example of architecture and serenity then it's a must visit place. The curvy roads are adventurous. And the world largest cannon and the canon factory make it more great

  • Mesmerized. Built as the summer capital of erstwhile Jaipur Kingdom, as view from top of it so beautiful that it was very useful for having watch over Jaipur city. Architectural marvel for rain water harvesting with underground storage reservoir of 40000 litres of water it there. Peacocks can be found roaming on the way and one of the best non vegetarian restaurant is here. Don't forget to see the world's largest CANON and canon manufacturing facility built ever inside the fort.
