Situated on the top of the Aravalli hills, The Nahargarh Fort offers a magnificent view of the entire spread of the city of Jaipur. It used to be a defence fort and was built by Maharaja SawaiJai Singh II. It served for the purpose of fortification of the city when it used to be under attack. The fort was also used to shelter and house the British inhabitants and the royal natives during the Sipahi Mutiny of 1857.

During the reign of Sawai Ram Singh in the later decades, the fort was heavily renovated and several rooms were added. The royal suites and rooms of the fort are interconnected through secured passages that are decorated intricately. One of The remarkable additions,MadhavendraBhavan, went on to become the royal residence of the queens of Jaipur, along with the topmost storey being a luxurious suite for the King.

  • The view from the top of this place will mesmerize you... You'll get birds eye view of Jaipur from this place. Also sunset from here is looks stunning. You'll get most fascinating view from the terrace. I loved the structure of the mini lake here as well. The structure is beautiful. Don't forget to see it.

  • A very high public spot. I prefer going through the round ways instead of coming via roads because that way you can enjoy more, It's more like hiking that way. You can see whole Jaipur from up there and even has food court up integrated. There is a puppet show and wax museum up there. In the palace various photography shoots can be taken. Yup! Cameras are allowed. And even they have two telescopes (20rs per indians and 50rs for foreigners) for viewing all Jaipur more closely. Tickets: 1. Indian student 5rs 2. Indian ( not student ) 100rs 3. Foreigners 500rs 4. Foreign students 25rs

  • Nice fort with astonishing view of Jaipur city. Main palace is well maintained & is under restoration but fort walls aren't. If someone wishes to walk by the fort walls & see the view of Jaipur city & Amber fort,(which is worth watching) he/she had to face thorny bushes first, since they have grown near pavement adjoining fort wall. Entry ticket for wax museum has to be purchased separately.

  • The best place to view the sunrise in Jaipur. One of the most surreal views in life can be seen if you visit the fort just before dawn. The whole city can be seen bathing in lights at night and slowly the twilight diffuses into the dawn with the sky getting orange. It seems heavens are meeting the Earth.

  • One of the best forts I have visited. Nice guides too. Well maintained by Govt of Rajasthan. No wonder tourism is such a big industry in the state. I would hope that the tourism departments also incorporate a few amenities for tourists like cleaner washrooms, drinking water and resting areas.
