Situated on the top of the Aravalli hills, The Nahargarh Fort offers a magnificent view of the entire spread of the city of Jaipur. It used to be a defence fort and was built by Maharaja SawaiJai Singh II. It served for the purpose of fortification of the city when it used to be under attack. The fort was also used to shelter and house the British inhabitants and the royal natives during the Sipahi Mutiny of 1857.
During the reign of Sawai Ram Singh in the later decades, the fort was heavily renovated and several rooms were added. The royal suites and rooms of the fort are interconnected through secured passages that are decorated intricately. One of The remarkable additions,MadhavendraBhavan, went on to become the royal residence of the queens of Jaipur, along with the topmost storey being a luxurious suite for the King.

Very beautiful place, fort with a single palace for all queens of erstwhile king of Amer. It has separate apartment for each queen except 2 queens who were real sisters, and were given a attached/merged apartment. Many more interesting stories related to king and queens, how he use to manage so many queens together. How he use to spend night with one and rest of the queens were left to guess whom he was with last night. One sud visit it and hear all tales from a local guide and ask him as many question as you can, every question will give you interesting facts and stories.
Easy hike up. Unless you're starting from the other side of town, don't let a rickshaw driver tell you the hike is so difficult that you'll need to drive up. It takes about 20 minutes depending on your place to get up from the South road. Beautiful views from the top over the city
I love to see sunsets, specially in India. I didn't no about that Nahargarh is a sunset point and when i visited first time i just wondered to see the huge area of Nahargarh fort and the sunset is really amazing and calm. A lot of people come to see the sunset. There's no need to buy tickets to see the sunsets, many places are outside from the fort where you can see sunset for free. Just go and enjoy sunset!!
I had been there in August 2016 and it was amazing! We really enjoyed the cool breeze and the view of the city from the top was spectacular. A must visit for tourists!
After enjoying the spectacular view of the Pink City Jaipur from the fort, I forgot the tiredness of climbing uphill. Cool breeze flows here all the time and you will be fascinated to see the fort how the Maharaja's built the fort in the difficult terrain. Suggestion to improve the place and tourist experience would be to built a broad road to the fort, as the current one is quite congested. But above all, the view from the fort is breathtaking !!!!
