  • This museum presents in detail every part of the Indonesian nation's timeline, from pre-historic times to modern times. This museum presents works of art such as carvings, sculptures, paintings, knits, woven and various other beautiful handicrafts. The museum also features miniature traditional houses made of wood and bamboo as well as cultural works from the regions. The museum is also famous as the Elephant Museum with the Elephant Sculpture icon in front of the old building. This old building holds the history of the Indonesian people. While the new building which stands next to it presents a modern part of the Indonesian nation.

  • As a tourist, the National Museum has been my favorite experience in Jakarta so far! After being in the museum for about 10 minutes, I was invited to join a free English tour (started at 10 AM that day) and I'm so glad I went on it. Dennis, the tour guide, was a wealth of knowledge and presented information in an entertaining way - I couldn't stop listening! The museum covers many aspects of the vast Indonesian culture such as Hindu statues/stories, spice trading, archaeology, textiles, treasures, and more. If you have a few hours to spend - I'd highly recommend visiting and taking a tour!

  • Best museum. I came there first time when they open their transportation exhibition. There were more miniature of vehicles. More type. And really enjoy what i see inside. They open different event of exhibitions in several months.

  • Nice place to visit with beautiful dioramas spring the history and development of Indonesia. Each one has a very short description which allows you to understand everything clearly. The second floor has a beautiful map of the country and at the top of the tower you get amazing views over the city! It's well worth a visit for the entry price! Tree ground around the museum are also really nice so you can enjoy a stroll in the park while you're there!

  • Very nice place to learn about Indonesian history and culture. Old museum needs renovation and new museum is amazing. Some of the information still in local language which yet to be translated. Weekends this place will be more crowded...You need to spend atleast half day here to know about Indonesian history..
