Considered to be one of the most impregnable forts in India, the Jalore Fort in Rajasthan is one of the primary attractions in Jalore. This impressive structure has been known throughout the history as ‘Sonagir’ or the ‘Golden Mount’. Perched atop a rocky outcrop, the fort is protected by bastions and a thick wall. The cannon mounted on the top of the fort is indeed an imposing sight. Inside the fort, visitors will find numerous Hindu and Jain temples as well as mosques. Climbing to the top of the fort with the help of steep steps can be a daunting task for some but trust us, the views from the peak are totally worth the climb!
