Lake Murray Park Reviews & Ratings
Great spot for walking, biking, boating, and running, Well maintained grounds and bathroom facilities. Pet friendly too. I walk there a couple times a week. You can even rent boats and bikes at the concession stand. Very nice place all around!
Wide paved trails made it easy to follow around the entire lake. Porta-potties are abundant. It was 5.9 miles one way and back again. The trail does not loop. There is barbed wire fencing and gate preventing this. Bring water on hot days.
It's a lake! Lake Murray has a nice bike/pedestrian path around the lake, with minimal bike bros (aggressive cyclists). It is very nice and peaceful during off hours, but peak time is more nightmarish. Look out for those bike bros, they're on your "LEFT!"
Lots of parking, a paved road around most of the lake. Good amount of people. Great to people watch and get a stroller workout. Dog friendly, we of course always take a collapsible dog bowl with a water bottle for our furry baby.
Check out my photos for details of bait shop store and rentals and boat launch regulations. One thing very good to know is that the concrete boy or girl bathroom building has two more bathrooms around the back!!!!! FOUR TOTAL. That's behind the little store which sells snacks and ice cream too. There are port a potties along the trail too. Lots of parking here. Geese and ducks. Picnic tables and pretty views. Fishing allowed but no swimming or wading or glass bottles. The playground is across the lake and I think a mile walking the trail fyi. Drive to it if you need to it's nearby and the best in San Diego, designed with developmental needs in mind and very well maintained with large grassy areas. This is a great spot for inland fun and exercise.
