The Broad Wall is an ancient wall which was part of the defense of the city of Jerusalem during the reign on King Hezekiah. The wall is said to date back to around 8th Century BCE and was excavated in 1970’s by an Israeli architect- Nahman Avigad.
The wall is 7 meters thick and runs 65 meters long with a height of around 3.3 meters at place where it is well preserved. With his excavation Avigad proved that by 8th century BCE, the city had expanded to the hill to the west of the Temple Mount.
