Coleman Miller Mountain Mine - Review
If quartz crystals interest you, a visit to the Coleman Miller Mountain Mine would prove to be a delightful experience. This is the best place in the Jessieville area to dig and discover these crystals. If you are experienced in digging, you would be provided help. There’s also a little gift shop where you can get your hands on some interested crystals at reasonable prices if you don’t really prefer digging. However, if you do decide to dig, you are sure to get your hands on something or the other. Also, if you take your kids along, they would have fun and learn more about such things. Have a wonderful digging experience.

Coleman Miller Mountain Mine, Jessieville Reviews
It appears they no longer are bringing up fresh piles from the mines from our most recent visit. The quality of crystals that we found went way down, unfortunately.
***There are *TWO* Coleman mines in Arkansas. RON Coleman & JIM Coleman. This is Jim Coleman (AKA Miller Mountain Mine). DO NOT drive directly to the pin shown on google maps. First, drive to their rock shop off the highway found when searching google maps for Coleman Rock shop where you pay $10 per adult to get a "mining permit". Hours are till dark all year (THIS IS THE ONLY public mine in state that has hours this late by far). This site is known for smaller points and smaller clusters. Ron Coleman mine has LARGE quartz points. Twin Creeks Crystal Mine has better medium clusters. When I visited in JULY 2017, their equipment had been down for 4+ days and there was NO FRESH DIRT - so reccommend calling ahead or asking in rock shop before you visit. Bring a brush to expose the smaller points easier.
My wife and I came here on our anniversary. We are experienced rockhounds, and we were the first people there. I could not be more dissapointed in all aspects of this mine. To start, the managers couldn't be bothered to even stand and take our money, they were burning trash while there were customers attempting to find crystals (giving us a headache) it smelled terrible. The tailings we tried to pick through had almost no crystals, and the few we did find were very small. Seemed as though they had not moved any dirt in a long time. Complete waste of money. Will not be going back and I do not recommend this place to anyone waning to enjoy a good outdoor Crystal digging experience.
Our favorite place to hunt for crystals. It's out of the way but worth the drive. We never leave empty handed.
We took home a full load of crystals, huge chunks to single points, and it only took about three hours. Digging through the fresh mud yielded the best results. Go. Don't hesitate. It is fun.
