Fundacion Cueva De Nerja, Nerja Reviews
Simply astonishing. Have visited a few cave sites like this elsewhere but this was the most impressive so far and the least expensive. Tour was very relaxed, we were not rushed around and we could take our own photos so long as we didn't use the flash. Truly a natural wonder and a must-see. We went at about 1045am and got tickets for a tour 1hour later. While waiting we wandered around the adjacent botanic gardens, which killed about 30 minutes and had an ice cream from the nice restaurant at the site. After our tour, we had a very pleasant lunch, also at the restaurant, and enjoyed the stunning view down to Nerja and the coastline. We were very surprised how reasonably priced the food was too for such a famous tourist attraction.
Great value, small queues, buy your ticket online to make it less hassle. These are a really beautiful set of caves and well worth a visit. They're steeped in history too which makes them even more fascinating. For preservation purposes you can't directly view the oldest cave art in Europe, but knowing it's there helps with this place's allure. May have bought some bits from the gift shop if it had been more related to the caves themselves rather than generic tat. There were only a couple of pieces relating to the cave and the art itself. Still, these caves are well worth a visit!
Amazing place to visit, huge caverns with fascinating rock formations. Audio guides are informative for all ages. Booking online was easy, turned up at the allotted time and walked straight in. Surrounding gardens were pleasant and cool. Well worth the entrance fee, so didn’t mind spending in the gift shop or the €1 parking fee.
Absolutely stunning...a must see when in Nerja! We went early on Sunday am to evoid queues Had a problem initially at ticket office as we were misinformed, on a site about the Cave...it said free for residents on Sunday am... however, it's actually free to residents on Monday am. Anyway, we paid our €10 each and I can say it's well worth the price to see this historic site...I only wish the Upper Galleries were open, where they have discovered many cave paintings. Excavating is still going on in this 5 million year old cave so maybe, in the future, they will open up more to the public. I can see why they don't allow flip flops as the ground is a bit uneven in parts. There is a large restaurant opposite the Cave entrance...great for when you come out! The temperature is a constant 19°C so no warm clothing necessary.
Considering its open 9.30-6pm we arrived at 1pm to be told no more access. How can that be? Its a cave people are going in and out! Told to go to the booth and get a ticket for the following day. Waited a good 15/20 minutes as there was nobody there. Then when he finally showed up he told us go online. Shambles and very dissapointing for a lot of people there. But hey. You can always still buy expensive merchandise!!
