The Jhansi Fort served as an abode, from the 11th to 17th century, to the Chandela Kings. Standing tall today in the centre of the city, this fort is easily reachable and is a must on every list of things to do in Jhansi. While the fort looks raw and rugged, enduring the sunlight, it is in the night that it transforms into this golden panorama, beautifully lit up with lights. Visit this place if you are a history buff or just enjoy panoramic views. There’s an annual Jhansi Mahotsav, sometime between Jan-Feb.

A very well maintained monument. The scale of this fort is quite modest in comparison to other forts of same era in north India. However, the way this fort has been maintained makes it worthy of a visit. This place is especially suitable for family groups with young kids and elderly members as they can easily explore the fort without getting exhausted.
Beautiful piece of history. Kadakbizli canon welcomes the visitor at the main entrance. As you move in, you find beautiful landscape comprising gardens and old buildings. Must see the point where the Rani jumped with her horse.
Place of historic importance that been preserved reasonably well. Access and parking at the fort is easy. Involves walking up inclined roads that are not tough. Space inside the fort is not huge, so can cover easily in half day. Sound and light show in the evening is a must do.
Don't go to visit specially for this fort only. If u are passing through jhansi city then u can spend some time here. The fort is not maintain as well I don't know why. There's no drinking water facility to tourists except the entry gate. There's also no canteen there to snacks. The fort is located at the good location from where you can see most part of the city.
It's very near to Jhansi railway station and hardly 10 min by Auto. I had visited this place once during a down pour, when i got an opportunity to do break journey from this railway station. I had got 1 hour time for the next train, so i took an auto to visit fort and buy a Pizza from Domino's on my return to station. Location was so cool, can see those old guns, rock structures and a treat to see the city from those heights that too in the back drop of rain. Based on my experience, its a must visit place especially when it rains. You can see the photos attached.
