While most of the Thar Desert is rocky, in this corner of Jodhpur lies a natural wonder of sandstone formed on layers of volcanic rock. With the Mehrangarh Fort soaring above, the seventy acres of Rao Jodha Desert Rock Park are a painter's palette of colors - purple and red and auburn. Get a handbook from the Visitor Centre to help you identify all the unique desert plants you'll see - trees, shrubs, herbs, climbers, and grasses. The flowers, changing with the seasons, are beautiful flecks of color in a harsh landscape. The Centre itself is a historic location. Long ago it used to be the gateway into Jodhpur, and it will be your gateway into the park, taking you through an old aqueduct of beautiful rock formations.

  • I wish we had similar experiences a lot more throughout India. It's exceptional. I don't understand how people could rate it lower .It's a great place for kids and families to spend good time and learn. You can't expect an air conditioner and roads for your car's everywhere. Beautiful initiative. Lots to learn. Breathtaking views.

  • Awesome nature park for explorer. Unique desert vegetation. Some raptors also can watch. Well mentioned by trust. Best time to see this site is winter. Awesome view of Mehrangarh fort.

  • It's a very good place to visit... It developed naturally over rocks... Different different areas are there like pond, cave, hill, valley....
