About Rao Jodha Desert Rock Park, Jodhpur
While most of the Thar Desert is rocky, in this corner of Jodhpur lies a natural wonder of sandstone formed on layers of volcanic rock. With the Mehrangarh Fort soaring above, the seventy acres of Rao Jodha Desert Rock Park are a painter's palette of colors - purple and red and auburn. Get a handbook from the Visitor Centre to help you identify all the unique desert plants you'll see - trees, shrubs, herbs, climbers, and grasses. The flowers, changing with the seasons, are beautiful flecks of color in a harsh landscape. The Centre itself is a historic location. Long ago it used to be the gateway into Jodhpur, and it will be your gateway into the park, taking you through an old aqueduct of beautiful rock formations.

Rao Jodha Desert Rock Park, Jodhpur Reviews
Well organized, super clean park where curators have created the natural desert environment of the Thar Desert. Wonderful bird watching down by the water seep. Trails are clearly marked and a nice map is provided upon entrance (100 rs). Water bottles are sold at the ticket counter - make sure you take some. I went around 10 am during mid-January, and the weather was perfect although the sun still shines brightly this time of year, so wear sun protection.
Magnificent fort. There is lift and walking path, people can choose either to reach the top of fort. For lift, you have to buy a ticket. There is facility of audio touring the fort with audio devices that will guide you through historic information. Cafes are available, even small gift shops. You will find musicians in the fort
good place.. you get a thrilling experience as u follow the map.. and different coloured trails on it.. you also get view of fort meherangarh as a whole from here.. they also have a guided tour in morning at 7 or so.. it is called beat the heat initiative.. carry water bottle.. wear shoes and a cap would do..
It's a great park for a trek! Not very famous but if you love a calm and serene place this is where you need to head to! You will get beautiful views of Mehrangarh fort from this place! Additionally there is a bird watching zone but you need some extra time and a guide for that.
Encompassing a lot of Endemic Flora and Fauna, Rao Jodha Dessert Rock Park is transforming into one of the most visited attractions of the town. The best time to visit is a cloudy day when the direct sun doesn't heats up the Rock Park. Do come with proper trekking or sports shoes and carry your water bottles. During rains the place is filled with a lot of little waterfalls and streams. Its a really beautiful site during these times!
