  • Number one spot to take my out of town friends. Incredible atmosphere and history that you really feel when walking around the precinct. Walking around the old Fort walls provide 360 degree views of the city, Hillbrow and Parktown. Fantastic stop on the Red Bus tourist route and not to missed. Best part is to take a moment and soak in the sounds of the bustling city.

  • Nice place to visit. It is one of the main attraction in Johannesburg. Very good museum showing all the history and stories of leaders. Constitution Hill is located at Kotze Street in Braamfontein, Johannesburg. Constitution Hill is the seat of the Constitutional Court of South Africa. Outside the doors of the court building in the middle of plaza is the Flame of Democracy.

  • Quite haunting Fills in many different f the huge gapain my knowledge (I'm from the US). Very well done explanatory signs and very evocative displays.

  • Good tour to learn about history. Very engaging with a good guide and also very realistic depictions of past conditions of the prison.

  • I've been fascinated with this structure for the past 5 years or so. It's odd to think that umongst the big city skyscrapers, busses and trains sits this relic of a completely different age, built to defend Johannesburg from colonialist England. It also saw its time as a notorious prison, and now forms part of constitution Hill. A truly remarkable heritage site worth visiting.
