Joplin Museum Complex basically has two different museums which tell the story of town’s development through two different angles. The Everett J. Ritchie Tri-State Mineral Museum is the place where you get to know about the mining in this area in the last couple of centuries. This museum is created in such a way that visitors will be in the replica of a mine shaft for the whole time. The Dorothea B. Hoover Historical Museum is another museum in the complex. It tells how the town developed over the years. It is a story of social, cultural, economic as well as educational growth. Visit this complex if you are in the neighbourhood and can spare an hour or so.

  • Is there NO RESPONSE to my question, "Is it still possible to enter the lobby to purchase rocks from a display case without paying admission to the museum?"

    Answer Report Abuse
    • Yes, it is possible. And they have a lot of new rocks on display for sale - some very large and all great quality.

  • I used to love to enter the lobby (without paying admission for the museum) and purchase rocks from the displays in the lobby. Is it still possible to do that?
