The wild is always fascinating. If you love to see wonderful animals take a drive through the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center. The center is devoted to animal species in peril. Stay at Glen Rose a night before so that you can start early the next day. Take a guided tour, and you might feel transported to Africa, with numerous antelopes, zebras’, ostriches, emus, and giraffe, around. The animals, at Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, come really close to the vehicle; you also get to hand feed them. But ration the food bag, as you get only one for the entire duration. The property is well maintained and is located at the beginning of hill country. The duration of the entire drive is a little over 2 hours, with a restroom, souvenir shop, and a petting zoo at the halfway point. Carry along the water and some snacks for your children. The visit is worthwhile.

  • My husband took me here today for my 30th birthday and it was an AWESOME experience! We went on the 3 hour behind the scenes tour, and not only was it fun, but it was so informative. Our tour guide, Jack, was phenomenal. He was personable and super knowledgeable. He taught us a lot about the different animal species and about the conservation efforts in place to help protect the endangered species that you get to see there. We also got to interact with and feed Giraffes, Emus, Ostriches, Deer, and more. It's one thing to see these animals on TV, but seeing them up close is an entirely different and amazing experience. This would be a great place to bring kids to teach them about the importance of protecting different ecosystems/species in a way that is fun and exciting. There is also a children's center which has a petting zoo that you can visit after your tour. We loved it so much that we are already planning to bring our nieces and nephews. If you get the chance, I highly recommend visiting Fossil Rim. We will definitely be back!

  • Great family fun! This was our second time here and all of the animals were out and hungry. My kids and my dad loved every minute of feeding the animals. I just wish the gave more food in the bags. The park employees were very friendly and helpful. The facilities were clean and well kept too.

  • Very fun place to take your kids! You do see a lot of deer, but there are exotic animals that you can feed as well, like giraffes and zebras. Love that there is a petting zoo at the midway point, so you can get out and stretch and have some lunch. If you have a Dallas Zoo membership, you can get in for 50% off!

  • This is a really cool place to visit if you want to experience wildlife. The are is really big and you can see quite a bit of variety of animals. Esp. For kids, they get to explore all animals that they see in TV and books. Seeing these animals in person opens up a whole new world and thought process in kids and help them grow. I hope all the animals are taken care of. One of my biggest concern is that all those vehicles running inside it emits a lot of dangerous gases which have an adverse effect on the animals and plants. If the center could make arrangements for shuttle or an open train through the park that visitors could hop in, that would be a best thing. I know there is a shuttle but its 40$ per person and when people have option to opt in for their own car, people will take their own car. Apart from that, I love this place. I am still giving it a 4 star. I would give 5 if the area was even bigger and more animals were rescued.

  • It's a nice place to go with the family. Especially if you have little ones. It would be nicer if they had more animals walking around... make the scene more enjoyable. Other then that is not bad.
