Julian Tourism

Julian is a census-designated place (CDP) in San Diego County, California, in the United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 1,502, down from 1,621 at the 2000 census. Julian is an official California Historical Landmark (No. 412). Also, the Julian townsite and surrounding area is defined by the San Diego County Zoning Ordinance Section 5749 as the Julian Historic District. This designation requires that development adhere to certain guidelines that are administered by the Architectural Review Board of the Julian Historic District, which is appointed by the San Diego County Board of Supervisors. (The "Design Guidelines Manual" is available in portable document format at San Diego County's office web site.) The hallmark of Julian is apple pie.

This warm abode of Julian is a delightful place to visit in United States. A gripping city on its own right, Joshua Tree National Park also deserves a visit. Joshua Tree National Park is bestowed with interesting set of attractions for every type of traveller. Also, to reach Julian, you'll have to take a flight to Joshua Tree National Park; so its not really a detour. And even if it is, the city is worth paying at least a quick visit. Popular vacation packages of Julian are of 1-2 days.

  • We will be traveling near Julian on Thanksgiving Day. Please advise if there is still a chance to see fall color in and around Julian. Also, will the pie stores and other stores be open on Julian mainstreet. Thank you!

      Yes, Julian will have a lovely golden, crimson, and tawny leaves falling from the trees in the month of November. Julian’s small downtown is filled with shops, you can visit Julian Cider Mill for a free sample of apple cider, or visit  Miner’s Diner or  Rongbranch Restaurant for a family dining experience. For pies & other sweets, you can visit Mom’s Pies,  Julian Café & Bakery, and  Candied Apple Pastry Company.
