  • Good tour with cultural commentary and great star gazing. The main benefits you get from going on the tour rather than yourself are narration along the drive (which was quite interesting), being driven/access to a 4x4 to get up to the summit, and the really nice telescopes they bring along. If you've never seen saturn's rings before or managed a really close look at the moon, these are the telescopes that will let you do that which was worth it for me. Main detractors are that it is a bit steep and your experience is hugely dependent on weather. Given that the cost is a bit steep, if you have your own car, going up to the visitor center to star gaze on a clear night or up further if you have a 4x4. The summit closes after dark, but you can stop near the "very long baseline array" (check Google maps to see parking near there) for some night time viewing

  • You can't control the weather, folks. Check the forecast. We had clear skies up at the summit with very little clouds. Arthur was a great guide the entire trip, and everything went off without a hitch. A truly amazing experience.

  • The tour was great with the best tour guide ever! Highly recommended 👍🏻

  • Great! Don't miss this! Excellent guide, excellent tour and excellent adventure! Truly memorable experience on the Big Island of Hawaii.

  • We were lucky enough to book with this tour company on our trip in 2014. We travel quite a bit, and this is still one of my favorite experiences. The guides are very informative and polite. I have never seen so many stars in my life, and the getting to view them and planets through their scopes was amazing as well. Obviously, being way up on Mauna Kea is indescribable; it worth the price and I would do it again.
