Kanazawa Castle, Kanazawa-shi Reviews

  • The most impressive castle grounds outside of Himeji. The grounds of Kanazawa castle are laid out exceptionally well. It Is truly beautiful and the grounds themselves are free! It is possible to go inside the castle for some excellent photo opportunities and to admire the construction of the building which uses 0 nails in it's construction. particular attention is paid to the layout of the trees and various flower species. I took at least 300 photos here and most were not of the same object.

  • Very nice park to walk around. It is free but part of it you have to pay to get into. They have free tours in English.

  • Neat feat if engineering of the times. Not particularly different from other castles of the period, most of what is to see is on the outside.

  • Interesting place to have a look at especially if you love your carpentry. Also make sure you go to the information centre first as there is FREE ENGLISH GUIDED tours of both the castle grounds and the gardens. Unfortunately we didn't see it in it's full glory as we were a month early for the cherry blossoms but can just imagine it would be AMAZING. But as for a castle there isn't much of one it really, it was only the old turrets that are there part of the wall structure but still really amazing as the workmanship inside is fantastic. If I had seen it in full bloom i think it would have got another star but if you want to see a good castle I would rate Osaka Castle but i still have some travelling to do and probably a few more castles to see.

  • Historic castle in the center of Kanazawa City. It can be reached by using hop on bus from Kanazawa Station.
