Bridge Over The River Kwai - Review
This bridge is a part of the Thailand-Burma Railway Line. Prisoners of War and Asian Slaves were involved in its construction. It was a difficult terrain to build a bridge upon. And thanks to the maltreatment and accidents on the site, more than half of the people involved in its construction ended up dying during the process. The tracks are cliff-hugging. The natural beauty surrounding the bridge is an antithesis to the hell that this place was. The line is still in use as a tourist train runs back and forth on these tracks. The bridge has now been built into a walkway with platforms to the sides of the track. The bridge has been immortalised in books and films. David Lean’s “The Bridge on the River Kwai” is a notable example.
