The Jama Masjid is the oldest and largest mosque in Kanpur where religion is no bar for entering the mosque. The red brick walls to the exterior of the mosque are complemented by off-white and green finishing. The main highlight of Jama Masjid however is the towering minaret with multiple levels and attached loudspeaker on a level evokes the local people in the regular and daily prayer hours. In the evening the walls of the entrance is beautifully decorated with fairy lights and neon lights while the minaret is lit up with bulbs. The minaret dominates the skyline of Kanpur.
