This unique Museum is dedicated to the Arabia steamboat loaded with cargo that sank just the north of Kansas City in 1856. With a Cargo full of fine dishware, clothing and bottled food, this ship was not discovered until 1988 and was buried beneath a Kansas cornfield. When the river Missouri changed its course, this ship was found by adventurous group and astonishingly, all the cargo was in remarkably perfect condition.
Since then, this place is known as Arabia steamboat museum displaying the contents of the cargo and the pictures and paintings related to the incident.
A perfect place to visit with family.

Steamboat Arabia Museum, Kansas City Reviews - Write a Review
WOW!! Absolutely amazing!! Largest wet find ever. Steamboat Arabia is a MUST see! Well worth the money for sure!! You go on a 45 min. guided tour and then watch a 15 min video. After that you will tour around the "boat" on your own. Very impressive! We were able to meet David, one of the owners/diggers, which was an even bigger plus. Every person here knows the history and they are eager to share. Go ENJOY!! Thanks to the good Lord for guiding these 5 willing families in this find!! We appreciate you all standing on Faith and bringing this beauty up.
Great piece of America’s history in an easy and informative format! Worth the price of admission.
Very interesting. And totally worth the admission fee! One of the excavation team, David, happened to be here today. So a few people got to ask great questions. Ashlee was a great tour guide. Well come back to bring my family/friends when they finish.
For lovers of history and those who admire the grit it takes to make stuff happen. The Steamboat Arabia sank in the mud and became a time capsule. Tools, shoes, kitchen implements and many more items were perfectly preserved. The boat's sinking and recovery has more than a little drama. A great outing for old and young, or for visitors from out of town interested in life on the frontier.
Awesome experience!! Nice to meet the people who discovered the treasure. Their story is Great!!!
