The Travancore kingdom has left a mighty reminder of its power through the VattaKottai Fort. This court designed in a circular frame is an interesting site to visit near Kanykumari. Made of Granite and partly extending into the sea, this monument has braved the odds over the years and still stands strong on the coast of Kanyakumari. This fort was set up for naval defense in its time.
Today it is a popular tourist destination. The experience of being on this old fortress is both serene and powerful at the same time. The history of the place is very interesting and action packed whereas the sea and the green grass has a calming effect on you resulting in a surreal experience. The fort is only a short distance from Kanyakumari and hence a must visit on your trip there.

Vattakottai Fort, Kanyakumari Reviews - Write a Review
Good old port which is nearby and has something to explain us about the olden Kingdom. We can see the planning capacity of our old kingdom. It has a nice architecture to view and protect the whole kingdom from the enemy. It has a tunnel cave which takes them to padmanathapuram palace.
Nice fort, without much crowd. Go either morning or by evening, else carry something which can save from hot weather. Entry free, but tourist vehicle entry fee is collecting just 200 meter before.
Very picturesque...and the been trees around are a good source of shade in the scorching sun...water and light snacks available outside the premises....you can still buy and enjoy them inside the fort.... One interesting thing is that u can have a distant glimpse of the Kudankulam nuclear reactor site from the fort
Nice place to hang out with friends and family. Visit this place in the morning time. During afternoon it will be really hot. The place is well preserved and tidy.
Nothing here to see.... but you love historical monuments you can just have a visit.... One more and important thing is , you will get a very good and nice photographs from this.... view will be awesome.... 3 star due to this only else 2 star.... Hope this helps you
