The Vivekananda faced many delays in its construction but it was finally constructed in the 1970s. The monument is homage to Swami Vivekananda who was a Spiritual leader as well as a Modern Indian thinker and Philosopher.

His memorial is not just a bunch of photos and artefacts from his life. The Memorial is a living breathing organization where youngsters who wish to take part in social service are trained under the system of Vivekananda’s teachings. There are places to meditate and the building has been constructed keeping in mind the cultural aspects of Vivekananda’s teachings.

It is a beautiful building well worth visiting due to its importance as it honors a modern thinker of India. It is believed that the great Swami would sit and mediate on this rock. Even though this fact has been disputed it is sure to fill just about anyone with a sense of calmness and serenity and help them meditate. Also, visit the popular attractions in the city by following Kanyakumari itinerary 1 day.

Vivekananda Rock Memorial Reviews & Ratings

  • Very beautiful place. Built on a rock, surrounded by sea water. Breeze from the sea will make you feel fresh and cool. In the meditation hall you can sit and meditate. You will feel very much relaxed and get peace of mind. A must visit place.

  • Beautiful monument, well maintained and expertly managed. You take the ferry to get there, the ticket is Rs 50 for both ways. Everything is kept clean and organized. I even picked up some books at the book shop. The meditation room is worth spending some time in. All in all it was a wonderful experience.

  • For ferry ride you need to stand in a long queue for hours. Ferry starts at 8 but queue starts quite before that. You can skip long queue by special entry by paying more money. Rock memorial is very well maintained. Very neat and clean in spite of thousands visitors. Sea view from this point is excellent. As this is southern most point of India.. Its worth visiting.

  • One would appreciate it only if one knows about saint Vivekananda and his contributions. It is an ordinary spot but it has a historic significance. One has to take a ferry ride to reach here. There is no land route. The ferry charges 50 INR. The ferry rides stop at 4 pm everyday. One must take the ferry before that. The return to mainland has to happen by 6pm. Footwear has to be left outside the spot. The view of the sea is worth it from the Vivekananda rock. The three seas, Indian ocean, bay of Bengal and the Arabian sea, meet here. The sea shows many colors. The spot is plastic and litter free. Food is not allowed here. There is a small room for meditation. One can meditate here peacefully.

  • A beautiful place towards the end of south Indian coast... Scenic beauty of windmills, western ghats, ocean and seas, wind sails, etc. all from a one place.. Calm place to sit at... It's really awesome...
