One of the prominent destinations in the city, the Lotus lake is a manmade lake popular for its beauty and attractions. It is located on the east of Zuoying district in Kaohsiung city and easily accessible for all. The place was opened in 1951. Decked with hundreds of stunning lotus plants, its main highlight is the numerous temples around the lake, with the popular ones being the spring and autumn pavilions and the Confucian temple. Lianchi lake has also been the hosting venue for several water events for World Games 2009. Come and walk through this scenic area in the later afternoon and witness a sunset that looks stunning with its reflection adorning the waters. The nearby ruins of Fengshan County walls make an amazing attraction for photographers and historians.
