In 1991, this was named America’s best beach; that 15 minutes of fame turned into steady popularity. The two reefs that form the bay also form a shelter; the water is always gentle. This makes the beach an excellent place for snorkelling, especially for beginners and kids. The water at the centre of the beach tends to stir up the sand, but the northern side is pretty clear, and gets clearer the further out you swim. The fish at the reef come in every color in many varieties. It’s quite pretty.
Just off the beach is the Kapalua Coastal Trail. Check it’s location on a online map.

Kapalua Bay Beach Reviews & Ratings
#1 favorite activity during my Hawaiian vacation! Definitely a bit crowded, but worth it. Calm, clear waters teeming with beautiful sea creatures, including tropical fish and sea turtles. Affordable snorkel and paddle board rental on site. Be careful entering/exiting the water while navigating shallow rocks.
100s of fish, crystal clear water and even several turtles. Amazing Beach! Great for kids, no breakers. Lots of rich rude people that don't respect the reef or it's inhabitants.... That's the only downside. The beach itself is flawless.
Calm waters, great for snorkeling, great for families. The water wasn’t too deep where you can still see fish and sea turtles while snorkeling. Definitely worth it if you’re on this side of the island.
Very crowded, and rocky, but you can rent snorkels and swim with fish and turtles. We got to see 2 different turtles and both got within a few feet from us. Super cool experience.
This is a beautiful beach. A little crowded but an amazing spot to see the odd turtle, some fish, hangout on the beach and relax. Good foot showers and there is a parking lot plus close street parking available.
