Elizabeth Gaskell's House, Manchester, formerly known as 84 Plymouth Grove is an important structure considering its history, as well as it architecture. The villa was built in the 1800s, and posed as the residence of William and Elizabeth Gaskell. After their death, the villa passed on to their daughter, who was the last Gaskell to own it. The villa’s architecture is not common to the rest of the city, and thus stands out prominently. It boasts of seven bedrooms, a living room, a dining room, a kitchen and a coach house wing, and flaunts its Neoclassical architecture gracefully. Restoration of the building started in 2004 with the aim of making it available for the public to visit. Being the house of one of the most famous novelists, and also a host to many others, this house has some rich literary background. Enjoy your visit here.
