In the middle of the 20th century, the Okanagan Historical Society decided to take up the work of preserving the historic site of the Pandosy Mission. It was here that an oblate priest called Father Pandosy set up the first white residence in British Columbia. After a lot of effort, only a few parts of the whole Pandosy Mission could be revived and rebuilt. These are the original building, chapel house, brother house and the barn. The place is jointly managed by the Okanagan Historical Society and the Catholic Church. It is open from dawn to dusk, from Easter Day to Thanksgiving. Efforts are also being taken to build a life size statue of Father Pandosy in bronze. This historic site is worthy of a look and will give you a feel of the early 19th century.
