  • You have to go and check it off the list. And seeing the faces is pretty awesome, however half of the trail was closed off and we weren't able to see more historical events in the visitors center. Lots of great photo opportunities. You can sit down and eat, get souvenirs and get a free mini tour from the park rangers. The amphitheater is big and I'm sure presentations are awesome. Make sure you visit Crazy Horse. They give you a much better experience!

  • Very cool place! It is something everyone should visit at least once in their lifetime. Remember that it is not yet friendly, so leave the pets in a cool place like we left ours in the air conditioned RV and drove the car. It was 11$ to park, but the pass is good for one year. They have a gift shop and snacks and ice cream on the way to the memorial. Very well maintained.

  • Good site classic history. Free to get in expensive to park. You can park for free before the turn off. If waiting in traffic there are 2 turn lanes so don't be afraid to use the second one. The video and museum were both good as well. I would have liked to see the sculptor area but it was just closed. They do a really cool night viewing and light show. If you make it all the way out here be sure to go down 16a and get the views through the tunnels.

  • A MUST SEE!!! Everyone should see this spectacular monument on the side of The Black Hills mountain. Four of our past-presidents faces are carved in the mountain Washington, Lincoln, Jefferson, and Teddy Roosevelt. The ceremony at night honored veterans who have served our country and was very emotional for the men that participated. They also had spotlights shining on the mountain side @ night illuminating the past Presidents faces. Very cool indeed and very patriotic!

  • There is not much to say complimenting Mount Rushmore that others have not said. I will say I didn't expect to like it as much as I did. The parking was easy and the walk not so long to get to a good view of the monument at the Grand Terrace. There are stairs but also elevator so anyone should be able to access the museum level. They are renovating the artist studio so that side of it is closed for a while and that was mentioned on their website. The food that was available was a cafeteria style with three stations. There was a full meal area, Grill area for burgers and such, and then another one that I didn't pay much attention to. There were vegan options in my line which was the full meal. The food was better than I would have expected and included such items as a pot roast meal, vegan wrap, meatloaf Etc. My husband decided to go to one of the other lines and came back with a bison hot dog which he said was good. Outside was another Grill and the burgers they were serving smelled wonderful. You can eat indoors or Outdoors. As with all national parks I have visited, you cannot bring your dog or other pets Intuit. But the parking deck had a lower level out of sunlight and you may leave your dog in your vehicle and I saw many people in fact they left their cars running with the AC on. The museum itself was very interesting and it was also a film that was very informative and good to watch to understand what it took to make such a really great Memorial to America's idea of freedom and democracy.
