Rushmore Cave And Rush Mountain Adventure Park, Keystone Reviews
This is not a family friendly cave tour and I would not recommend for children under 6. It was very clear from the very start that Matt, our tour guide had little patience for small children on his tour. I can appreciate being asked if we feel the tour is inappropriate for our 3 year old due to how much talking there is on the tour, and the offer that we can leave the tour at any time and our money be refunded, but customer service is all about the tone and how you speak to people, and I felt he had very little tact in the tone of his voice. It came across as frustration, and my interpretation, it was due to him asking us questions and talking quietly while he was talking. Again, it was not the fact that the question was asked, multiple times, it came down to the tone used. I would recommend putting something in your advertising about suggested ages, and not having it on your signs out front that baby front carriers are permitted. If our toddler asking questions quietly while we hung way back with him so the rest of the tour wouldn’t be disturbed or his train of though affected, I cannot imagine what the reaction to a baby babbling the whole tour would have been. I would highly recommend Crystal Caverns! We were there the day previous and had no issues with our 5 and 3 year old on that tour. They were super friendly and made the mining part extremely fun for our boys.
Cave tour was really good. Very cool stalagmites and stalactites. Tour guide was knowledgeable, accommodating to the entire group (young to old), and funny. May want a light jacket/sweatshirt as it is cool in the mine, 50-ish, and wear shoes with good traction. Our teenage kids rode the coaster once...had fun but weren't really interested in going a second time. I don't think I'd buy an all-day pass, didn't look like there was enough stuff to do to last all day, or make it cost effective.
What a great experience! We ended up spending most of the day here using the unlimited wristband. The kids (11,8,5) all loved every part... we probably rode the coaster 10+ times, did the challenge park for over an hour, the zipline 2-3 times each, the 7D game a handful of times and the cave midday was a great cool break (Hannah was a great guide!). Lunch at the snack shop was good too, and not overpriced like most places. Very clean, great place and young fun staff. The ONLY downside we experienced is they didn't have any drinking fountains?!
Highly recommend visiting! There is something for everybody to enjoy here at Rush Mountain. We shot the zombies in the 7d video experience last time and had to go back for the werewolves this time! To our surprise they had added a mountain coaster which is an ABSOLUTE MUST DO, so much fun with a fast, exhilarating ride down the mountain with beautiful views along the way. The facilities are immaculate and they are constantly adding new attractions, I suggest stopping on your next trio to the black hills!
A little out of they way, but not to bad. Kids loved the coaster. Wish we had more time to spend here because you could spend hours having fun.
