Khajuraho Temples, Khajuraho Reviews

  • Great place, not badly priced. But once you’ve seen one you’ve seen them all. Place very clean and would recommend wearing socks as you have to remove shoes when entering towers and the floor becomes hot. A definite go-to place to feel pride in our History, capability of our ancestors and learn about the prevalent culture, mores and custom of this area more than a 1000years ago. The largest and most well known is the Kandariya Mahadeva, located pretty straight forward from the entrance gate. The ornate carvings on the outside depict every sexual position imaginable, but also pictures of every day activities. While the erotic carvings are used to promote visits to the site, only about 10% of the art falls into this category. One may climb the steps and walk around on the outside plaza to see the sculptures, but you must remove your shoes to go inside to see more carvings and statues.

  • These temples have great cultural, historical and architectural significance. They are most famous for the erotic sculptures, found on the outer walls of almost each of these temples. They are one of the best examples of nagar style of temple architecture.

  • One of the must visit historical places in India, and has quiet an extensive past!! There's not much to explore around in Khajuraho except for these exceptionally beautiful temples here, wonderful stone carvings are a sight here!! You can actually feel the strength of these structures once you walk around them.... They even have a light and sound show here at these monumental place, don't miss that... Take a look at the photos I have uploaded here :)

  • Khajuraho is known around the world for its stunning temples adorned by erotic and sensuous carvings. A small town located in the Bundelkhand region in Madhya Pradesh, Khajuraho is a brilliant example of Indian architecture and its culture back in the medieval period. The architecture of these Hindu and Jain temples depict the innocent form of love, the carvings on the walls display passion in the most erotic yet aesthetic ways. Built between 950 to 1050 AD the sheer confrontational nature of these carvings show a stark paradox with the conventional Indian ideals about eroticism, leaving everybody spellbound. Art in this small town is engrained in all of its structures and are a classic example of the finesse of India's cultural and artistic heritage.

  • Nice place to visit. The "Khajuraho Group of Monuments" is a group of Hindu, Buddhist and Jain temples in  Chattarpur, Madhya Pradesh, India, which is connected with railways as well as Airlines. They are one of the World Heritage Sites which is maintained by Archaeological Survey of India. The temples are famous for their nagara-style architectural symbolism and their erotic sculptures.
