The National Museum of Sudan also referred to as Sudan National Museum is a doubled storied building that was constructed in the year 1955 and was then established as a National Museum in the year 1971. The building along with its surrounding gardens houses the largest collection of Nubian archaeology in the world including objects from the Paleolithic to the Islamic Period. In particular, the Museum houses archaeological artefacts from various periods of Sudan’s History which is very interesting to look at. The interior halls of the Museum include leather, stone, gold, iron, wood and a lot more in form of sculptures, weapons, wall paintings and others. Visiting the Museum is like taking a step back in time and getting to know more about the history of Sudan.
