The Six Rivers National Forest is a US National Forest protected under the IUCN category VI. Sprawling over a million acres of area with diverse vegetations of Old Growth Forest, this forested area has gained the name from the six rivers (Eel, Van Duzen, Klamath, Trinity, Mad and Smith) that flow through the boundary. Wild forests full of flora and fauna, six distinct botanical vegetation, and public use areas for camping, hiking and fishing are provided here. Coast Douglas FirTanoajk, Pacific Madrone, White Fir are some of the most abundant species. There are five designated Wildlife areas here that fall under the National Wilderness Preservation System.
