Kingston Waterfront, Kingston Reviews - Write a Review
Great location, but terrible conditions. The hotel is in the best place of the city, with great view of the river. Parking in the hotel, good location. All the staff is best, very friendly and heapful, primarily the waitresses in the restaurant. The hotel is old, and need a extreme renew. The room smells bad, the carpet have a deep dirt, KEEP YOUR SHOES, otherwise you will lost your socks. Terrible conditions in the bathroom.
So, the caveat to this is that I have stayed at a lot of IHG hotels in the last couple of months and I have mostly had positive experiences. This one is far from it. I certainly had high expectations getting to stay at a waterfront hotel but ultimately the service and the experience was disappointing. The day after I checked in something had happened the night before regarding a water pipe or something that burst taking the restaurant out of commission. This did not bother me and obviously that's not something the hotel could control. However, the next day around 3:30pm when I was hoping to get some rest relaxation between work obligations, construction started extremely loudly. It was pretty much not possible to stay in my room. After about 15 minutes I called the front desk and very politely and calmly asked how long the construction (which had not been mentioned to me at all or even posted anywhere) would take. The person on the desk seemed to not care at all and casually responded a few hours. Now perhaps I'm being unreasonable but I want to be clear that my issue is not with the construction but rather the way it was handled. There was no notification no apologies or anything. I was very disappointed and would likely not return to this hotel given the way this situation was handled. To be perfectly honest, it makes me think I picked the wrong chain of rewards programs(Best Western v IHG).
The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. At the foot of Princess Street downtown, this hotel is ideally situated for pedestrian tourists. However, there was unrepaired damage to the ceiling and carpet, and lots of water in the carpet around the air conditioner. Overall, the stay was good, but the price was a bit high for the quality of the hotel.
The downtown location is so close to everything! Staff was lovely, the room was nice with a great view of the harbour. Breakfast buffet was well worth it too! Great stay!
The hotel is situated walking distance to some lovely restaurants and waterfront. The hotel was exceptionally busy but the hotel staff made time for us and were nothing but friendly! The room was spacious, clean and well lit. Only complaint was the lack of fan in the bathroom led to a very warm and humid environment in the room.
