Summer – June through August: The best time to visit Kiruna is summers. City is packed with visitors and locals enjoy long days as the sun never sets, or it does only for few hours only to come up soon! This is a peak season so the prices of accommodation and flights may rise quite high but the almost perfect weather makes it a delight to enjoy outdoor activities and to experience a rare occurrence – Midnight Sun!
Spring – March through May: Locals welcome spring and bid adieu to a long winter season starting March. Although it may still be cold, weather in Kiruna starts to change as the month progress and city looks even more beautiful with spring blossoms all around!
Autumn – September: With days getting shorter, the hotels start to slash down the prices and the attractions in the city have limited visiting hours or some close down. This is an off-season where you might not see much of visitor around.
Winters – November through March: Another good season to visit Kiruna, if you are into winter sports and are ready to be mesmerized by Nature! Harsh weather and very few hours of sunlight don’t attract many visitors. If you are brave enough to weather the conditions, then you will be generously rewarded in the form of Northern Lights, Polar Night and Dog sledging, apart from a lovely Christmas of course!
