Having completed the construction in 1891, the Klerksdorp Museum is a former prison currently housing an extensive collection on culture history, animal-drawn vehicles, farm implements, and archaeology. The museum is now a stunning sandstone building which showcases temporary as well as period exhibitions attracting numerous visitors throughout the year. Heritage tours are also organized at the museums while some other exhibits are devoted to social, geological and town life history.
