Ijams Nature Center, Knoxville Reviews
Awesome park! My dog loves going here, very dog friendly. It is always so clean and there is never to many bugs. The swimming query is nice and relaxing. There is plenty of amazing views, and if you are there long enough you can see some wildlife too. I loved watching the beaver building his dam down by the river bank. Nice place to hike and get away for the day.
Great place. Nice to have something like this in the metro area. More people should visit this place because there is a lot to see. Wish they would offer some volunteer clean up days. Wouldn't mind helping out with some trail maintenance. Some parts could use it.
Beautiful area to take family and friends on nature hikes. There are a variety of paths, trails and activities for people of every skill level. For those of us who are more sedentary there are plenty of lovely paths that don't require a lot of effort. We went in July and the woods were wonderfully cool. Leashed pets are welcome on the trails and we saw several people with their dogs while we were there. There is a Navitat ropes course for the more adventurous.
A very beautiful place to go hiking for the day! There are so many different trails to go on, but the one by the river has some pretty amazing views. It’s so peaceful and quite out there and the trails are very easy to follow. I didn’t get a chance to go biking or zip lining, but next time I visit I will definitely try both out! It’s not a far drive from downtown Knoxville at all and overall it’s very clean. There are many signs throughout so you know which trail you are on and which ones you’ve already hiked. Great for families and to bring your dogs along to get some exercise.
It was a cool August day. The picnic area was quite pleasant. The tables were not anchored so it was possible to move them into the shade. (If it had been a cool winter day, we would have left the tables in the sun.) The animal collection was very small, but we got to see the you're turtle up close. The grotto is very scenic. It was fun watching youngsters jump off the short cliff. It was even more fun not having to do it myself. I have not yet gotten on a kayak. There is no treachery here, unlike a couple of spots on the San Marcos. I have not been on the Ocoee or other Rivers in East TN.
