  • A long, white sandy, enjoyable beach. This wonderful "beach area" is about 4+ kms/2.5+ miles long... and has many vendors offering massages, lounge chairs, food and drinks... but it also has many areas where one can enjoy the beach's "natural beauty", the warm water, and the peacefulness which is ever present! It is probably the most popular beach on Koh Samui. Some people enjoy the services offered on the beach... but nearby there are also hundreds of restaurants (serving food and beverages from all over the World), interesting attractions and many hotels and guest houses- spread over a very large area. The beach and its services can be best enjoyed if you know what you want and then "locate yourself accordingly! A visit is well worthwhile! I hope that this Review has been helpful.

  • The quieter of the two "big" beaches of Samui, the water was a bit murky during the rainy season as most of the island is. I would recommend staying and bathing far from the river near the north end.. although that is where the night market is located which is excellent for cheap delicious food. There are also nightly food stalls somewhere near the center of the action near the cluster of sexy bars... Pretty funny stuff those are. Families and backpackers alike hanging around this area, plenty of hotels and lots of sand.

  • I stayed twice at Lamai Beach in August, at the beginning of Aug, I stay for 1 night, it was a prestine white sandy beach with super clear and calm waters, it was a 5 stars beach. Then I returned for a week long stay at the end of August, the wild weather dramatically transformed the beach beyond recognition, muddy water, very strong waves, rip current with some stingers in the water and tons of seaweeds. So ended up couldn't enjoy it the second time. What a shame. So finger crossed, check the weather closely before booking. When you are there if Lamai is bad, check out Crystal Bay and Coral Bay close by.

  • A nice long beach, picturesque in areas. I took a long walk all the way along it and back to get a feel for what's on offer. Lots of beach front bars, restaurants and also hotel/bungalow type places if you need them. The sea isn't very clear but is warm. Toward the rock formations the sea becomes more rocky (obviously) so tread carefully as you get in.

  • A better beach on Samui, but unfortunately still just a beach on Samui. If you haven't planned your travel yet, pick a different island. I highly recommend the Andaman Sea over the Gulf of Thailand.
