John Suwan Viewpoint, Ko Tao Reviews

  • 50B/person entrance to drive down the lane and gives access to Freedom beach. Another 50B/person for a day pass to the lookout itself. The 500m hike was steeper than expected, and there were ropes to assist your climb. Views of the island and bays at the lookout were amazing and worth the hike. Wear shoes with grip. Go early!

  • The place is amazing, but I only give a star, as a protest. We should not contribute to paying for free places. I dont like to pay, even for a western is "only 100 bath". The first 50 bath "toll" is a joke. Im a traveler, I'm not stupid. Anyway the second payment "toll" was a man in a hammock, at least polite. Again, I do not like that. We should stop visiting these places as a protest. Today I started, not entering in a beach that the resort asked me 100 bath to use the path. Shame. Knowing this, if you decide to go, is a moderate climbing, not so hard but dangerous in some places. Some ropes there to help, but take care on the top. Try to use sport shoes, not flip flops. Enjoy Thailand!

  • Excellent view point! Wear something decent on your feet for the climb. 100baht/ person which includes freedom beach.

  • Definitely a must-see viewpoint on the island. The climb is short but a bit exhausting. Lots of steep inclines and boulders to climb over. Go mid afternoon when it's less crowded.

  • The best view point in Koh Tao! 500m climb is fine as long as you wear snickers. There’s no charge, if you’re coming before the sunrise.
