The name of this attraction can be a little misleading. It is not a zoo, but rather a bird and flower park, although some people now call it an animal cafe. It used to be called the Kobe Botanical Garden.

Yes, you do get to see some fauna, mostly cute animals such as kangaroos, capybaras, rabbits, alpacas, sheep, goat, horses, giant tortoises, cats dogs, red pandas and guinea pigs. There is even a camel. The bird population consists of owls, tropical birds, parrots and hawks. All of these are spread out over a dozen interactive areas such as lily ponds, an aviary and a stable.

It's all jolly good fun with the family.

  • Great place for little ones to see animals up close and feed/ ride a variety of animals. The flowers and plants inside the greenhouse are very picturesque. However, some animals are contained in small spaces and don’t seem to get much attention. I wish the bears and cougars had snack times as well.

  • Kobe Animal Kingdom is a nice and pleasant place for a family outing. I'd recommend this zoo if you have younger kids (let's say around elementary to middle school age) because there are a number of activities for the little ones to enjoy like the contact zoo. However, it is pretty crowded at times and the selection of animals aren't incredibly diverse (it's still alright though). It was a nice visit to this zoo overall and I'd recommend it if you happen to be in Kobe. It isn't anything very special though so don't expect too much.

  • Enjoy playing with cute exotic animals! The raptor show is very fantastic and touching. Convenient access from Kobe Sannomiya area.

  • Magical. Like a zoo without the enclosures. Walk along with lemurs. Pet a carybara. Stare straight up into the curious gaze of a red panda. Wonderfully immersive. Great for adults and children alike.

  • Located right at the entrance of Kae computer Mae (or Kei computer mei) station, near the Kobe University, it is a wonderful place to spend your day- with kids especially. One would not get bored even if he's alone though. The place has a nice collection of exotic wildlife and there are a lot of animals and birds you would interact with. There are several shows as well like the lemur study, penguin show, the bird show etc. Visitors get a chance to feed some animals as well at nominal charges. The kids would love it- especially the petting zoo part. There is a souvenir shop and a couple of restaurants and the entrance fee to the park is around 15-20 USD. It should be particularly a place of interest for seafarers whose ship dock at the Kobe container terminal in the sense that it is at a walking distance from the port and one can comfortably spend the day here and return back to the ship from the shore leave in time. Enjoy. Cheers.
