This was one of the first western style houses in the Kitano-district to be opened to the public as a museum. Striking for the apparently scaly exterior that looks like fish or snakeskin, the house's main attraction are its permanent collections of antique furniture and European porcelain. There are also some naturalist drawings. Heading up to the third floor will reveal some great lookouts over the city of Kobe. There is a tearoom on the first floor.
