Mangalavanam, Kochi Reviews

  • Mangalavanam Bird Sanctuary is situated in the heart of Kochi right between the Kerala High Court and the Arabian Sea. It is a haven for different kinds of birds. It is believed that more than thirty species including migratory birds are made their home here. The summer months are usually the best time to experience its beauty, especially from mid-January to early-March. When we enter inside of the Sanctuary we feel that we are inside a forest. There are a lot of grownup trees and mangroves in this area. There is also a rest house having two air-conditioned rooms.

  • Peaceful spot in the middle of the city Not the most amazing natural spot I've ever visited, but you can immediately feel the temperature drop 5 degrees upon entering the cool shade of the sanctuary. Lots of birds around (you can hear them, even if you can't see all of them), and bats hanging from trees as well. Can't go very far into the park on foot, but that's kind of the point - it's a sanctuary that humans happen to be allowed into, not a zoo. Next to the Kerala High Court, which is a neat building.

  • It is not so big place based on area. It is a marshy area. It is fully covered with trees. Really calm and quiet. You can find birds if an only if you spend more time over here, what I found was crows and bats. Kingfishers, Cranes were also found. They will conduct classes for us if we require. It is best place that contributes peace.

  • The Mangalavanam Bird Sanctuary sprawling over 2.74 hectares is situated in the heart of the lively city of Kochi. Comprising of 18-acres of Mangroves which are filled with a densely populated species of trees and plants, the sanctuary remains at a cool temperature. One of the major attractions is the beautiful watch tower which overlooks the sanctuary thereby giving a superb view to the tourists. The Kerala Forest and Wildlife Department also conducts a free nature camp at the sanctuary which is attended by tourists from different parts of the world.

  • pretty nice place. you wont believe that a place like this does exist in the middle of a highly populated city. best place to escape from the sun in summers
