What better way to spend a day than in the company of nature and its best creatures? A visit to the Alipore Zoo, also known as Kolkata Zoo, makes for a lovely day spent with family and friends in the company of tigers, elephants and enthusiastic deers. The oldest zoo in the country, there is a certain old world charm attached to this place still. You can time your visit in such a way that you get to feed the Tigers and other animals during their snack time. It does get a little crowded on weekends and public holidays so it’s better to reach early and spend the day here.

This place is one of my favorite. This is the best place to be with your family, specially the kid. The types and numbers of animals are quite good, though some of the animals are in bad conditions. Have been there many times. Has nice place to rest and you can even do a small picnic with pre-cooked food. Better to visit during weekdays as the rush is very less. Even if you are free during weekends and holidays, try to avoid big occasions like, New Year, Christmas etc. Visit during winter as the weather is very nice.
Its a well maintained zoo accompanied by beautiful gardens and bird attracting lake. U will find almost every other animal in here under proper care and surveillance. The guards do their job very properly to make sure the visitors don't tease the animals or unknowingly push themselves to danger.
A very good zoological garden. It has maximum varieties of animals in india. Resting places and snacks shops are sufficient. Ideal place to visit with family, friends and children.
Can be better.. the big cats cages are either empty or lesser members.. security staff members are helpful in guiding.. but they were unconcerned when people were taking snaps of reptiles, even though it was forbidden.. the signboards for names of animals include scientific names.. which is cumbersome to understand
Biggest zoo of India. Very good place to visit with kids. Though open throughout the year but best time to visit is in winter. People used to carry their food & have a small family picnic there. Several animals, birds, reptiles are there. Tiger is being the main attraction.
