Alipore Zoological Gardens - Review
What better way to spend a day than in the company of nature and its best creatures? A visit to the Alipore Zoo, also known as Kolkata Zoo, makes for a lovely day spent with family and friends in the company of tigers, elephants and enthusiastic deers. The oldest zoo in the country, there is a certain old world charm attached to this place still. You can time your visit in such a way that you get to feed the Tigers and other animals during their snack time. It does get a little crowded on weekends and public holidays so it’s better to reach early and spend the day here.

Alipore Zoological Gardens, Kolkata Reviews
A good place for children to visit, see all kinds of wild animals under one roof & it is also one of the biggest zoo. It's more than 130 years old & has all the facilities inside. Families can spend quality time here from morning to evening. People should not go there in rainy season, rest of the time its very good. I go there once every two years.
Nice experience if you go for a short while with kids or adults who've hardly seen something similar. If you have already seen a big zoo then you could avoid it as this is at best average. We went with our toddler for a couple of hours in the morning and it was her first visit to the zoo so she really enjoyed it!
One of the oldest zoo in Asia and may be the only one which is located within the heart of a metro city. There are plenty of animals and the maintenance is very good. There are ample open space where one can go for a picnic. Parking lot is there and wheelchair entrance too. The ticket price is also very low.
Alipore zoo is one of the oldest zoo in India. Tourist ensure that they visit the zoo once they are in city. There is parking on the road which cost Rs 25 per hour for four wheelers. Polythene bags are not allowed. Zoo is closed every Thursday except during Winters. There are a lot of Ice cream parlours offering scoop from Rs 10 onwards. Security guards are available near most of the animal cages. You can take home cooked meal inside but avoid taking polythene bags. One of the best zoos with a wide variety of animals inside. The entry fare is 30 rupees for adults and the fee is justified completely for the number of animal species that are available for display inside. Also, you will find eateries inside the zoo so no need to worry for hunger when inside. Look out for Giraffes, Lion, Tiger and Rhinos
