Well maintained temple. Much less dirty than most of the other temples. Easily holds a big numbers of devotees everyday due to very well established security systems. Taking photo inside the temple premises is prohibited. Good systems are available to the devotees for putting their mobile phones, shoes and other accessories into lockers against very nominal amount. Shoes can also be kept at prasad counters at the shopping block. Overall experience has always been great.
Went yesterday to learn something really important. If you're a devotee, avoid visiting this place in Summers else your bare feet will certainly burn as the place gets really hot in summer. But be sure it'd be an experience of a lifetime!
This temple is one of the most famous religious sites in West Bengal. The temple was established in 1855 and has been an architectural marvel since. The temple area is huge and so are the queues made by the devotees. The temple is just beside the Bally Bridge. How to get here: Catch a train from Howrah or car and stop at bally, cross the bally bridge to get here. People from Airport will just need 20 mins to reach here. Note: Cameras and Mobile phones are not allowed inside the main premises now. Submit it in the registered shops.
Very much well maintained comparing Kalighat temple. My mother and wife both loved the temple very much. My one day trip to Kolkata was ended in satisfying note as the last point was this temple. Thanks to management for superb services.
